[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] As Apple Pay's landing in Korea becomes visible, Samsung Pay and Kakao Pay are reportedly seeking to link payment services.

According to the information technology (IT) industry on the 12th, Samsung Electronics is discussing the linkage of simple payment mutual service that allows users to make offline payments through online payment and magnetic security transmission (MST) using Samsung Pay in Kakao Pay and Kakao Pay app. 

 

In cooperation with Kakao Pay, Samsung Pay aims to build a 'Samsung Pay ecosystem' by increasing its payability. The industry analyzes that Samsung Electronics responded to Apple Pay, which is expected to start service later this month.

Earlier last month, Samsung Electronics signed a "business agreement to activate mobile payment experience" with Naver Financial, which operates Naver Pay, allowing them to pay with Samsung Pay at 550,000 online franchises in Korea. 

 

For Naver Pay and Kakao Pay, if you link with Samsung Pay, you can enjoy the effect of expanding payment support merchants beyond the limit of using QR codes or bar codes for offline payments.
