[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Hanmi Semiconductor eventually liquidated its stake in its affiliate Hanbit Laser, which was embroiled in lawsuits in the past. He has been in a position as an affiliate since 2016 after the lawsuit, but there was no special transaction relationship, and eventually took steps to liquidate it.

According to a business report by Hanmi Semiconductor on the 28th, the company sold its entire 25.34% stake in its affiliate Hanbit Laser. As a result, Hanmi Semiconductor has no stake in Hanbit Laser and has been excluded from related companies.

Hanmi Semiconductor pledged to sell all of its shares in Hanbit Laser in the fourth quarter of 2022 and sold some of them. The remaining 10.73% of the shares were set at 3.4 billion won in accounting and disposed of on Jan. 12, 2023.

Hanmi Semiconductor is a company that develops after-process equipment such as semiconductor packaging and inspection and supplies them to domestic and foreign semiconductor companies. Hanmi Semiconductor invested 2 billion won in Hanbit Laser in 2007 and acquired an 8.7% stake. Since then, the stake has increased to 25.05% in 2011. In 2012, the company secured a 25.34% stake through repayment of preferred stocks. Since then, it has maintained its stake until the third quarter of 2022.

However, the relationship between the two companies has been completely cut off since 2016. Although it was still classified as an affiliated company until liquidation in 2022, there has been no transaction history between the two companies since 2016. Although it is not the official position of the company, this may have been influenced by lawsuits between the two companies that began in 2016.

According to Hanbit Laser's audit report, it filed for damages against Hanmi Semiconductor in 2016. Since then, Hanmi Semiconductor has also filed a lawsuit against Hanbit Laser in 2018.
