[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] POSCO Future M will supply cathode and anode materials for Cadillac's luxury electric vehicle, LYRIQ.

On the 26th, POSCO Future M announced that it will provide the core materials for secondary batteries, cathode and anode materials, for the Cadillac LYRIQ. The LYRIQ is the first model based on GM's next-generation electric vehicle platform, Ultium. Starting with LYRIQ, POSCO Future M's cathode and anode materials will be used in GM's electric vehicles built on the Ultium platform.

POSCO Future M and GM have been continuously collaborating in the secondary battery sector. In May 2022, they jointly established Ultium CAM, the first joint venture between a battery materials company and an automobile manufacturer. Ultium CAM is constructing a cathode material production plant with an annual capacity of 30,000 tons in Quebec, Canada, aiming for completion in the second half of this year. They are also preparing to expand the cathode material plant in North America by 2026 and planning to establish a precursor plant, which will produce intermediate materials for cathode materials.
