[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Lotte Chilsung will be fined 100 million won for illegally supporting its headquarters personnel to its subsidiaries.

The Lotte Chilsung corporation was found guilty of violating the Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act by the Seoul Central District Court's Criminal Chamber 33 (judge Park So-jung) on the 31st of last month and received a summary order of 100 million won in fines.

From 2012 to 2019, Lotte Chilsung sent 26 of its employees to its subsidiary MJA Wine to work, reducing the costs of its subsidiaries to prevent them from being kicked out of the market.

The prosecution found that Lotte Chilsung's unfair support to MJA wine, which had little operating profit, was an act that undermined fair competition, and summarily indicted Lotte Chilsung for a fine of 100 million won.
