[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung SDI announced on the 18th that it will participate in 'Auto Shanghai 2023' (Shanghai Motor Show) and show all-solid batteries. Auto Shanghai 2023 will be held at the National Exhibition Center in Shanghai, China from 18th to 27th (local time).

Samsung SDI's all-solid battery is called the "dream battery" because there is little risk of fire. Samsung SDI plans to mass-produce all-solid batteries from 2027. Prior to mass production, the pilot line for all-solid batteries will be completed at the Suwon Research Institute in the first half of this year and prototype production will begin.

Samsung SDI showed a variety of products and technologies that reflect customer demand at the motor show. The P6, a sixth-generation rectangular battery, is equipped with rapid charging technology that can charge more than 80% in 10 minutes due to improved manufacturing methods. Its goal is to mass-produce P6 in 2024. 

 

The 46-pi cylindrical battery is a new platform that grows in size and maximizes performance. Samsung SDI introduced its battery brand PRiMX in China for the first time.
