[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] HD Hyundai Heavy Industries refuted Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering's request for a national audit on the 19th, saying, "It has already been judged by the court and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration," adding, "The claim to undermine fairness is not true."

"Regarding the selection of a basic design operator for the Defense Acquisition Program Administration's next destroyer (KDDX) project, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering claimed that Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering used its concept design in August 2020," HD Hyundai Heavy Industries said. "We filed an injunction with the Seoul Central District Court to confirm that Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering was the preferred bidder, but the court rejected Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering's claim."

He also said, "At the end of 2020, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering raised an objection to the Defense Acquisition Program Administration for the same purpose, but the re-verification committee of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration decided that confidential design secrets could not be considered to have been used to draw up a proposal for the main project."

Earlier in the day, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering said it will file a national audit request with the Board of Audit and Inspection calling for an audit on whether HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is illegal in the process of being selected as an KDDX operator.
