[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Instead of taking necessary measures against the company's "bullying in the workplace", POSCO Chairman Choi Jung-woo was found to have accompanied an executive identified as the perpetrator on an overseas business trip.

Chairman Choi went on an overseas business trip to attend the World Steel Association's regular meeting for the first half of the year in Vienna, Austria, on the 17∼21st of this month. Choi was appointed president of the World Steel Association in October last year. On this business trip, he presided over the meeting as president of the association and discussed global steel issues.

Several company officials accompanied him on his business trip. Among the business travelers were an executive A who was suggested for disciplinary action earlier this month after harassment at work was confirmed in 2022∼23.

Chairman Choi initially showed a position of disciplinary action when the proposal for disciplinary action against executive A was raised, but the disciplinary process did not proceed as the superior of executive A gave different opinions.

However, an official at POSCO Holdings contacted late on the 29th and explained, "The executive is the chairman of the subcommittee under the World Iron and Steel Association, so he went to attend the subcommittee meeting on a separate schedule from Chairman Choi Jung-woo."

POSCO Holdings has been suspected of acquiescing without taking necessary measures even after confirming the harassment of an executive A at work.
