[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Kolon Industries announced on the 10th that it will invest 22 billion won to increase the annual production capacity of Aramid pulp at the Gumi plant by 1,500 tons.
Aramid pulp is made in the form of crumbs by applying physical friction after cutting the raw material Aramid yarn. Aramid is a material that is five times stronger than steel of the same weight. It is used as a brake pad and clutch reinforcements for vehicles.
Kolon Industries will build 3,000 tons per year after completing expansion. It plans to expand its customers into the electric vehicle industry that is pushing for weight reduction.
