[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] KOSDAQ-listed game company Com2uS recorded operating losses due to increased marketing costs despite the success of "Summoners War: Chronicles."
Com2uS made an announcement on the 11th that its operating loss in the first quarter of this year was 14.8 billion won, a tentative increase in the deficit compared to the same period last year (2.7 billion won).
The operating loss exceeded 68.1% of the market forecast of KRW 8.8 billion compiled by Yonhap Infomax.
Sales reached 192.7 billion won, up 44.5% from the same period last year, achieving the highest first-quarter sales ever.
Net profit reached 40.6 billion won, turning to surplus compared to the first quarter of last year and the previous quarter.
Regional sales were 79.3 billion won in Korea, 56.5 billion won in North America, 31.9 billion won in Asia (excluding Korea), and 21.1 billion won in Europe.
Com2uS explained, "With the global success of 'Chronicles' realizing a rise in sales across the region, the proportion of overseas sales in the game business has expanded to 77%."
