[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The construction of a joint battery plant in Ontario, Canada, has been suspended by LG Energy Solutions and U.S. automaker Stellatis.
Construction related to module production was suspended during the construction of a battery plant promoted by the two companies on the 16th. Construction for battery cell production is partially ongoing.
LG Energy Solutions and Stellatis announced plans to build a 45GWh (Gigawatt City) battery joint plant in Windsor, Ontario, last March at a cost of about $ 4 billion (about 5.4 trillion won).
Canada's Windsor Star reported that the Canadian prime minister plans to meet with LG officials during his official visit to South Korea from the 16th to the 18th regarding the suspension of the plant construction.
