[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Gumi City announced on the 25th that it has attracted a joint factory between LS Group and HAI·Hammerer Aluminum Industries, a global aluminum manufacturer.
HAI is the world's No. 1 company in aluminum parts for electric vehicles (EV) and operates plants in four European countries, including Austria and Germany, to supply products to Daimler and BMW.
The joint venture, which will be worth 100 billion won at the Gumi 3rd Industrial Complex, will produce high-strength lightweight aluminum parts for EVs, including battery cases, starting in 2025.
LS Cable, which has supplied high-strength aluminum parts to Hyundai and Kia's internal combustion locomotives, plans to expand its business around EV with the establishment of a joint venture with HAI to establish a value chain that leads to LS Materials' energy, LS Alsco's eco-friendly materials and LS-HAI JV's aluminum parts.
