[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Hynix is gaining dominance in the market as it has been recognized by NVIDIA and Intel in the US for its DRAM quality competitiveness. It is planning to improve its performance with next-generation products certified by major foreign companies.

According to SK Hynix on the 31st, the company is verifying the compatibility of the Double Data Rate (DDR) 5 for servers using 10-nano fifth-generation (1b) technology on the platform for Intel Data Center servers. The product's operating speed is 6.4 gigabits per second (6.4 Gbps), the fastest among DDR5s on the market.

"We were first certified in the industry in January by applying DRAM for the 10-nano fourth-generation (1a) DDR5 server to the fourth-generation Intel processor," said Kim Jong-hwan, vice president (DRAM development) of SK Hynix. "We will also successfully verify 1b DDR5 products."
SK Hynix also exclusively supplies HBM3 to the NVIDIA Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) 'H100' that goes into artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots. High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) is a product that connects several DRAMs vertically to speed up information processing than conventional DRAMs, and HBM3 is a HBM 4th generation product.

This product is attracting attention in line with the expectation of AI industry growth. NVIDIA recently announced that its sales in the first quarter (February and April) were $ 7.19 billion (about 10 trillion won), more than 10% of its market forecast. Sales in the second quarter (May ∼ July) also exceeded the market level by more than 50% to around $ 11 billion.

SK Securities reduced SK Hynix's deficit estimate from 11.1 trillion won to 9.1 trillion won this year. It is expected to turn into a surplus in the first quarter of next year and make an annual operating profit of 8.6 trillion won.
