[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Boiler manufacturer Kiturami received a 'warning' from the Fair Trade Commission.
It is suspected of falsely and exaggeratedly advertising the performance of the new boiler.
According to the FTC on the 3rd, Kiturami advertised the "NEW Condensing Premium-17HW" boiler on home shopping broadcasts three times from October to November 2020.
At that time, Kiturami introduced, "This product has a 34% improvement in hot water supply capacity compared to the existing model of Kiturami thanks to the use of an integrated hot water expansion tank."
However, the FTC investigation confirmed that the boiler was equipped with an expansion tank with the same performance as the previous model.
Kiturami admitted, "There was no objective experiment result to prove the correlation between expansion tank and hot water supply capacity."
However, it explained that the software technology that controls hardware such as gas valves, fans, and burners in combination has improved compared to existing products, improving the hot water supply capacity.
"When purchasing mechanical facilities such as boilers, consumers generally prefer new products with hardware improvements rather than just improved software compared to existing products," the FTC pointed out.
However, considering the fact that the ability to supply hot water has improved and that the period of violation is not long, the Fair Trade Commission issued a warning instead of imposing a fine.
