[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Unlike recent visits by CEOs of major U.S. companies such as Elon Musk (Tesla) and Jamie Damon (JPMorgan Chase) to Beijing and Shanghai, major Korean businessmen with strategic production bases in China are quiet. Even if he visits China, he appears to be refraining from external activities that could provoke the U.S., such as not visiting workplaces in China.

According to a Hankyoreh report on the 5th, two people who have visited China since COVID-19 are believed to be SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won and Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong. Chairman Choi Tae-won attended the Boao Forum in China in March and delivered a congratulatory speech for the "ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Performance Measurement" session. Choi crossed the West Sea for the first time in four years since November 2019, but did not visit SK Hynix's semiconductor operations in Wuxi and Dalian, China.

Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong visited China last March to attend the China Development High-Level Forum in Beijing. Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, Hanwha Group Vice Chairman Kim Dong-kwan and POSCO Group Chairman Choi Jung-woo have not officially visited China since the spread of COVID-19 in March 2020, the company said.
