[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] While SK Hynix is virtually monopolizing the fast-growing DDR5 DRAM market, the yield of 1a (14-nano) DDR5 DRAM products has reached 90%, which is much higher than that of its competitors.

Industries predict that SK Hynix's dominance will continue until next year as Samsung Electronics and Micron are delaying their entry into the DDR5 DRAM market.

According to industries on the 13th, the DDR5 DRAM market, which is considered one of the biggest battlegrounds for memory semiconductor companies this year, is expanding around high-capacity products such as 128GB DDR5 for servers. Among them, SK Hynix is supplying 100% of the market volume. Samsung Electronics and Micron have yet to produce 128GB DDR5 high-capacity DRAM products.

DDR5 DRAM is the latest DRAM standard announced by the International Organization for Semiconductor Standards (JEDEC) in July 2020 and has twice as much performance as DDR4, which is currently used mostly. In the server market, which is the biggest revenue source for memory semiconductor companies, demand for replacement is high as it still accounts for most of the DDR4 DRAM market. Among them, Intel, the strongest in the central processing unit (CPU) market for servers, released Sapphire Rapid CPU, which supports DDR5 in the first quarter, and DDR5 is gradually expanding in the server market.

The problem is that DDR5 standard DRAM production capacity is not enough yet. In the semiconductor industry, SK Hynix is currently supplying most of the DDR5 DRAMs for servers, especially for its flagship 64GB capacity products and 128GB products, which are high-performance products.
