[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The first trial of former Hana Securities CEO Lee Jin-kook, who is suspected of prior trading, was held on the 14th.
The 7th criminal division of the Seoul High Court (The senior judge Lee Kyu-hong) held its first trial earlier in the day against former Hana Securities CEO Lee Jin-kook and former Hana Securities Research Center researcher Lee, who were indicted on charges of violating the Capital Market and Financial Investment Business Act.
The court, which listened to the lawyer of the former researcher Lee, set the 26th of next month as the date for a follow-up trial.
Former CEO Lee is suspected of taking unfair profits worth 145 million won by trading 47 stocks through prior trading that make profits by buying and selling shares using undisclosed information, such as an analyst's purchase opinion report from February 2017 to September 2019.
Former researcher Lee is suspected of buying nine shares before the corporate analysis report was released from January 2018 to April 2020, and then making gains worth 14 million won by selling them after the report was released. There is also a suspicion that former researcher Lee assisted former representative Lee.
