[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] HD Hyundai President Chung Ki-sun said on the 14th, "We are doing our best to be carbon neutral to make the world's sustainable future, and we want to find the solution in hydrogen."

President Chung attended the second general assembly of the "Korea H2 Business Summit" held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul and said, "HD Hyundai is trying to build a hydrogen value chain from the sea, including green hydrogen production technology and liquefied hydrogen carriers."

President Chung said, "We are striving to apply the Hydrogen Converse Challenge, which produces eco-friendly electricity through offshore wind power or small module nuclear power plants (SMR) and produces green hydrogen with such electricity, to large merchant ships."

"I don't think it's long before we develop a value chain that transports hydrogen with our member companies," he said. "Hydrogen business is difficult for any one company to do, and we need help from many of our partners here."

President Chung added, "We expect close cooperation among member companies for the rapid establishment and spread of the hydrogen economy, such as the Bluehydrogen MOU, which was recently signed with SK Group in the United States."

The Korea H2 Business Summit is a private hydrogen company consultative body established by 17 major Korean companies, including Hyundai Motor, SK and POSCO, and held its first general meeting two years ago in 2021.

The second general meeting was attended by Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, SK Group Senior Vice Chairman Choi Jae-won, POSCO Group Chairman Choi Jung-woo, GS Caltex CEO Heo Se-hong, HD Hyundai President Chung Ki-sun, Hyosung Group Vice Chairman Cho Hyun-sang and Korea Zinc Chairman Choi Yoon-beom.
