[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Among Aramid yarns called "super fibers," demand for "para-system" products with high-strength characteristics is soaring. Kolon Industries, the only producer of para-aramid in Korea, will double its production by expanding its Gumi plant at the end of this year.
According to the industry on the 19th, Kolon Industries will complete the expansion of its production line in the Gumi plant, which produces 7,500 tons of aramid fiber per year. Then the aramid fiber produced here doubles exactly to 15,000 tons per year.
Recently, demand for para-aramid as a raw material for 5G optical cables has been soaring. Kolon Industries ranks third in aramid production, following DuPont of the United States and Daisy of Japan.
