[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Tesla announced on the 19th that it received a correction order from the Korea Fair Trade Commission for false and exaggerated advertisements. It has been about six months since the FTC announced that it would issue a correction order to Tesla.

Tesla Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Elon Musk and Tesla Korea CEO David John Feinstein issued a notice on Tesla Korea's website, saying, "We received a correction order from the Fair Trade Commission for committing false, exaggerated and deceptive advertising acts in producing, importing and selling its electric vehicles from August 2019 to December 2022."

Tesla Korea said it had taken corrective action for mistaking consumers as if they could always drive more than certified mileage by using phrases such as "can drive more than OOOkm on a single charge." In addition, it announced that the charging performance of Tesla's fast charger, Supercharger, was false and exaggerated as if it could implement the performance regardless of external conditions.

Tesla eventually announced corrective action about six months after the Fair Trade Commission's announcement. This is in accordance with the FTC's procedures, and it has been confirmed that Tesla did not oppose the FTC's decision or delay its announcement. The Fair Trade Commission announced the results of its review in January this year after launching a review of Tesla's false and exaggerated advertisements around December last year. Since then, Tesla has made the announcement on the same day as it delivered a related resolution in May after going through procedures such as confirming facts with Tesla.

In the process, the penalty of 2.852 billion won was also reduced by 100 million won to 2.72 billion won.
