[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyundai Rotem announced on the 20th that it has signed a contract with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration for the second mass production of wheeled command vehicles.
The contract amount is 707.3541 billion won. It is equivalent to 22.36% of recent sales. The contract period is from this day to November 30th, 2026. It will be delivered between 2024 and 2026.
The wheeled command post vehicle was developed last year based on the K808 wheeled armored vehicle.
Wheeled command vehicles often overlap with wheeled armored vehicles. The unit price of mass production is cheap and it is advantageous for follow-up logistics support management.
This contract is the second mass production contract following the first mass production contract last year. Hyundai Rotem signed its first mass production contract worth 55.3 billion won with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration in May last year. The first wheeled command post vehicle has been delivered to the military since this year.
The Defense Acquisition Program Administration plans to introduce 600 vehicles for wheel-type command centers by 2029, with a total project cost of about 1.5 trillion won. Vehicles for wheel-type command centers will be powered by battalion-level or higher command units of the Army and Marine Corps divisions.
