Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will inevitably suffer trillions of won in losses in their semiconductor businesses until the second quarter.

On the other hand, LG Electronics is maintaining solid profitability in home appliances while continuing to grow in the electronics business. This situation is expected to continue until the semiconductor market rebounds in earnest.

According to financial information provider FnGuide on the 25th, securities firms expect Samsung Electronics' performance consensus in the second quarter of this year to be only 62.6 trillion won in sales and 200 billion won in operating profit. Sales fell 19.6% year-on-year and operating profit fell 98.6%. The sluggish performance is largely attributable to a slump in the semiconductor business, which is its main business. Stock industry sources estimate that Samsung Electronics' device solution (DS) division, which is in charge of its semiconductor business, will suffer more than 3 trillion won in operating losses in the second quarter. Compared to 4.58 trillion won in the first quarter, the deficit is still inevitable, although the deficit is reduced.

SK Hynix is also expected to continue its trillion-won deficit. According to FnGuide, SK Hynix's second-quarter earnings consensus is expected to reach 5.81 trillion won in sales and 3.5 trillion won in operating losses.

Sales are down 57.9% from a year ago and will continue to suffer operating losses for three consecutive quarters. SK Hynix posted a deficit of more than 3.4 trillion won in the first quarter of this year after posting a deficit of 1.9 trillion won in the fourth quarter of last year.

After surpassing Samsung Electronics' quarterly operating profit with operating profit of 1.5 trillion won in the first quarter, industries predict that Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics will reverse operating profit for two consecutive quarters.
