[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] The prosecution, which is investigating KT Group's 'Tunneling' suspicion, summoned Shin Hyun-ok, vice president of KT.
According to legal circles on the 28th, the Fair Trade Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (chief prosecutor Lee Jung-sup) called in Vice President Shin as a suspect on charges of violating the Fair Trade Act earlier in the day.
Shin is suspected of being involved in forcing KT Telecop, an affiliate of KT Group's facility management division, to give work to certain companies.
Since Koo Hyun-mo took office in 2020, KT has changed the company that orders KT's facility management work from KT Estate to KT Telecop.
Since then, KT Telecop has been suspected of driving the work that was distributed to four subcontractors to two companies, KDFS and KSmate.
The prosecution is said to have secured a transcript of Vice President Shin's coercion to give all the work.
The prosecution will check with Vice President Shin whether there were any group-level instructions, including former KT CEO Koo Hyun-mo, in the process.
"KT's consultation with its affiliate, which is a trustee, regarding the FM work of its group affiliates is part of its normal work, not unfair interference in its affiliates' work," KT said on the previous day.
"We only consulted with KT Telecop to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of group companies, but we did not discuss ways to support specific companies," he said.
In this regard, KT said to Alpha BIZ, "I have nothing more to say than the official position."
