[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] NCsoft's fourth-largest shareholder, the National Pension Service, sold 460,000 shares in the first half of this year alone. The amount amounts to 163 billion won.
NCsoft announced on the 4th that the National Pension Service sold a total of 229,268 shares in the market as of the 19th of last month, reducing its stake from 7.32% to 6.28%.
In March, the National Pension Service suddenly announced that it had sold 232,426 shares, lowering its stake to 7.32%.
As a result, a total of 461,694 shares were sold by the National Pension Service in the first half of this year, equivalent to about 163 billion won based on the closing price at the time of the disclosure obligation.
As of Dec. 31 last year, the National Pension Service held an 8.39 percent stake in NCSoft and became the fourth-largest shareholder following its CEO Kim Taek-jin (12 percent), Saudi sovereign wealth fund (9.3 percent) and Netmarble (8.9 percent).
The National Pension Service stated the reason for the sale as 'simple additional acquisition and disposal'.
The main reason why the National Pension Service reduced its stake in NCsoft by 2.11 percentage points this year seems to be that its stock price has been on the decline since last year.
Shares of NCsoft started trading at 298,000 won on the same day and are trading at 293,000 won, down 39% from its 52-week high of 481,000 won.
