[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] LS Cable & System made an announcement on the 5th that it has commercialized a 6㎜ 10GB (CAT.6A) LAN cable with the highest external diameter in the world.

The external diameter was reduced by about 20% compared to the existing general purpose product (7.2㎜). In this case, the number of LAN cables with hundreds of strands installed in the walls or ceiling of the building can be increased. The amount of data transmission also increases.

LS Cable plans to launch full-scale marketing focusing on data centers (IDCs), banks, securities firms, semiconductor factories, and smart buildings where large amounts of data are used. In particular, it will expand its presence in the US market, which accounts for more than 40% of the global LAN cable market. In the U.S., the market is growing rapidly as big tech companies' investments in the cloud, metaverse, and big data increase.

"Competition to reduce cables is fierce among leading companies to increase data transmission," said Lee Dong-wook, head of LS Cable's telecommunications business division. "We plan to make more efforts to expand the U.S. market, which has accounted for a large portion of existing sales, with the launch of new high value-added products."
