[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Following Samsung Electronics' domestic plant, OCI will supply 'high-purity phosphoric acid' used in etching semiconductor wafers to Taylor Foundry (semiconductor consignment production) plants in the U.S.
As a result, OCI is actively considering expanding its Gunsan plant to increase production of related products.
OCI recently reorganized its governance structure by OCI Holdings, a surviving company, and OCI, a new corporation, focusing on semiconductor and secondary battery materials. This is interpreted as a strategy to maximize capacity by separately managing polysilicon, which has severe ups and downs depending on market conditions, and semiconductor material sector, which is expected to grow stably.
According to the semiconductor industry on the 12th, OCI, the No. 1 high-purity phosphoric acid supplier in Korea, is considering expanding its industrial plant. OCI recently completed the expansion of its production line at the Gunsan plant and secured an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons as of the end of the first quarter of this year. In addition, we are actively considering ways to further expand production by additional expansion.
