KBI Dongkook expands three domestic and overseas factories to respond to demand for electric vehicle parts such as Volkswagen

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] KBI dongkook, the core of KBI Group's auto parts division, said on the 19th that it has decided to expand one in South Korea and two overseas plants and is pushing ahead with construction as scheduled in order to stably respond to new orders from customers.
Currently, KBI dongkook is mass-producing parts for 14 models, including Grandeur, at four plants in Korea, including the Shin-Asan plant, the Asan plant, the Ulsan plant and the Gyeongju plant.
Overseas Mexican plants produce a total of eight models, including the K3, parts of 12 models, including Celltos, at its Yeomseong plant in China, and 30 models, including Tiguan at four European plants of its subsidiary KDK Automotive.
In order to smoothly respond to new orders as a result of aggressive marketing, KBI dongkook has been under construction since last month, with the expansion of 6,105㎡ in the Shin Asan plant and the expansion of 14,850㎡ in the Mexican plant and 10,000㎡ in the Spanish plant among overseas plants.
When the expansion is completed in April 2024, sales of four domestic plants will increase from 399 billion won last year to 407 billion won this year, 425 billion won in 2024, 460 billion won in 2025 and 471 billion won in 2026.
Established in April 2017 in Paskeria, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on a scale of 50,000 square meters, the KBI dongkook Mexican plant will produce plastic-emitting products such as Crash Pad, Head Lamp and Rear Lamp, and the completed auto parts will be finally supplied to local Kia plants and overseas automakers such as Hyundai Motor, Chrysler and Mazda.
Once the expansion is completed, it is expected to double from 35 billion won last year to 70 billion won in sales in 2026.
