5 financial holding companies earn 10.8 trillion won in the first half alone

[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The five major financial holding companies posted net profit of nearly KRW 11 trillion in the first half of this year. Among them, KB· Hana and Nonghyup Financial saw their net profit increase compared to the same period last year, significantly increasing their non-interest income.

According to each company on the 30th, the net profit of the five major financial holding companies, including KB· Shinhan, Hana, Nonghyup and Woori, was 10.8882 trillion won in the first half of the year. It is the maximum on a semi-annual basis. It increased by 6.7% from the first half of last year (10.1979 trillion won).

KB Financial Group, which maintained its position as a 'financial leader', posted a net profit of 2.9967 trillion won in the first half. Shinhan Financial followed with 2.6262 trillion won. Hana Financial Group (2.209 trillion won), Nonghyup Financial Group (1.7058 trillion won), and Woori Financial Group (1.5386 trillion won).

There were mixed feelings of joy and sorrow among financial holding companies. Compared to last year, KB Financial Group and Hana Financial Group and Nonghyup Financial Group achieved their best performance in the first half of the year. On the other hand, Shinhan and Woori Financial saw their net profits fall from last year.

KB Financial Group and Hana Financial Group posted net profits of 12.2% and 16.6%, respectively, in the first half of this year. Nonghyup Financial Group rose 26.3 percent over the same period. Shinhan Financial Group and Woori Financial Group saw their net profits fall 2.1 percent and 12.7 percent in the first half of the year, respectively, from the previous year.

In the first half of this year, Hana Financial Group achieved 1.37 trillion won in non-interest income, up 196.5% from 462 billion won a year earlier. Nonghyup Financial Group posted 1.25 trillion won in non-interest income, up 100.1 percent from 624.9 billion won in the first half of last year.

KB Financial Group also earned 2.8978 trillion won in non-interest income, up 105.5% from the same period last year.

Shinhan Financial's non-interest income was 2.325 trillion won, up 21.5% from the previous year, but it is far behind KB· Hana and Nonghyup Financial, which increased more than 100%.

Woori Finance was 783 billion won, down 22.0% from the same period last year (611 billion won).
