[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Former Samsung SDS President Hong Won-pyo has been named the new CEO of security firm SK Shieldus.
According to the industry on the 31st, EQT Partners, an investment company in Valenberry, Sweden, a major shareholder of SK Shieldus, recently named former president Hong as the new CEO of SK Shielders.
Earlier, SK Square completed the process of selling part of its SK Shieldus stake to EQT Partners for a total of 860 billion won. In addition, EQT Partners will issue new shares of 200 billion won in SK Shieldus, and SK Shieldus's final equity structure will be 68.0% for EQT Partners and 32.0% for SK Square.
As a result, EQT Partners is said to have led the new CEO of SK Shieldus.
Hong graduated from Seoul National University's Department of Electronic Engineering and obtained a master's and doctorate in electronic engineering from the University of Michigan in the United States.
He served as head of the U.S. Bell Telecommunications Research Institute and KT's mobile Internet business division (executive director), and joined Samsung Electronics in 2007 and served as head of the product strategy team (vice president), head of the global marketing office (president), head of the solution business division (president), and CEO of Samsung SDS.
