[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] SKIET turned into a deficit due to the sluggish front industry caused by the electric car 'Chasm'.
SKIET made an announcement on the 29th that its operating loss in the first quarter of this year was 67.4 billion won, which is a tentative turnaround from the same period last year (1.7 billion won in operating profit). It posted an operating profit of 26.9 billion won in the fourth quarter of last year, but posted a road deficit in the first quarter. Sales were 46.2 billion won, down 67.69% from the same period last year. The net loss turned to a deficit of 60.3 billion won.
Sales of separators for electric vehicles (EVs), which account for about 73% of sales, fell sharply due to the adjustment of inventory held by major customers, and were also affected by increased mobility losses due to reduced operating rates.
However, the company predicted that its performance will gradually improve in the second quarter thanks to the exhaustion of inventory of separators by electric vehicle customers and the start of sales to new global customers.
