[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyundai Engineering & Construction has won a project to build a power line linking Saudi Arabia's power production base to the new city of Neom. The business size is 185 billion won (145 million dollars).
Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on the 1st that it has won a project to build a 525-kilovolt ultra-high-pressure direct current transmission line in Saudi Arabia, which was ordered by the Saudi Central Power Agency. The contracted transmission line project is a project to expand the power grid to a total of 605㎞ from Yanbu, a power production base on the west coast of Saudi Arabia, to Neom New Town.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction will be in charge of the Portion 1 project, which will build a 207㎞ transmission line and 450 transmission towers out of the entire section. The goal of completion is July 2027.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction has carried out a total of 33 transmission line projects so far since it first won orders to build power lines in Saudi Arabia in 1976.
