[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Taihan Cable & Solution has succeeded in developing the world's best ultra-high voltage direct current transmission (HVDC) cable.

Taihan Cable & Solution announced on the 2nd that it has completed the development of a 525kV voltage HVDC land cable system and obtained the Dutch International Accreditation Testing Agency (KEMA) certification. In December last year, it developed the first 500kV current HVDC in Korea.

HVDC is divided into voltage and current types according to the conversion method. Voltage types are easy to install two-way transmission and conversion stations, and demand is increasing recently. The industry estimates that the global market for HVDC cables will expand to 159 trillion won by 2030.
