Attention is focusing on whether safety inspections of Tesla vehicles, which have only been able to check their appearance, such as wiring damage and tire conditions, will be carried out more precisely.

The corporation received safety diagnosis data related to vehicle driving and batteries from Tesla in the middle of last month and started building a vehicle inspection system.
Tesla had previously rejected the request of the corporation to submit diagnostic information.

According to data that Park Sang-hyuk (Democratic Party of Korea), a member of the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, received from the corporation in September last year, the corporation asked all automakers to submit diagnostic information data in June 2017, but Tesla notified that it was impossible to submit the data.

Tesla is known to have claimed that software technologies such as autonomous driving may be hacked if the OBD terminal is installed.

Since then, Tesla has developed its own diagnostic menu (manager mode) on dashboard monitors and proposed a method to diagnose vehicles, and has held meetings with the corporation to implement related functions.

Concerns have been raised that even if Tesla intentionally hides defects or system errors occur, there is no way for the authorities to respond.

According to the corporation, Tesla canceled its plan to produce its own diagnostic system last month and changed its position to provide data.

The corporation will complete the establishment of a safety inspection system and operate it on a trial basis before applying it to regular inspections.
