Jeju Air's operating profit for the first half of the year is 93.9 billion 'the largest ever'

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Jeju Air announced on the 8th that its operating profit in the second quarter of this year was tentatively tallied at KRW 23.1 billion, which turned into a surplus compared to the same period last year.

Sales during the same period rose 195.6 percent to 369.8 billion won. The cumulative performance in the first half of this year is the highest ever with sales of 792.1 billion won and operating profit of 93.9 billion won.

Jeju Air chose operating routes centered on Japan and Southeast Asia as a factor in improving its performance. As of August, Jeju Air operates 37 cities, 50 international flights and six domestic flights, the largest number of low-cost carriers (LCCs). Jeju Air plans to introduce the next-generation aircraft B737-8 from the second half of the year to strengthen its cost competitiveness, expand supply and diversify routes.

Air Busan's operating profit in the second quarter was tentatively estimated at KRW 33.9 billion, which turned into a surplus compared to the same period last year. This is the highest quarterly figure. Sales during the same period rose 136.3 percent to 198.3 billion won.

Jin Air's operating profit in the second and fourth quarters turned to a surplus of KRW 17.8 billion compared to the same period last year. Sales during the same period rose 105 percent to 259 billion won. As of the first half of the year, sales rose 215 percent year-on-year to 611.6 billion won and operating profit turned into a surplus of 102.7 billion won.
