[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Senex Energy of Australia, a subsidiary of POSCO International, has signed seven long-term natural gas supply contracts. The contract is estimated at a total of one trillion won.
Senex Energy announced on the 10th, "We have signed a contract to supply a total of 133 petazules (international energy measurement unit) of gas to power plants such as BlueScope and Liberty Steel, including AGL, Australia's largest power producer."
The supply period is up to 10 years from 2025. If Senex Energy provides natural gas, power generation companies will convert it to liquefied natural gas (LNG) and use it for power generation.
133 petazule is the amount that can produce about 2.5 million tons of LNG. It accounts for 25% of the annual gas demand in eastern Australia.
POSCO International is expanding its gas treatment facilities to meet the growing demand for natural gas.
In order to strengthen energy security, POSCO International plans to convert some of the natural gas produced by Cenex Energy into LNG and bring it into Korea. The maximum size is 400,000 tons.
