Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix recorded '50 trillion won' in semiconductor inventory in the first half

[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Inventory assets of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix recorded a total of KRW 50.1098 trillion in the first half.

On the 14th, Samsung Electronics announced in a semiannual report that its inventory assets reached 55.578 trillion won as of the end of June, up 6.4% from 52.1878 trillion won at the end of last year. In particular, DS inventories in charge of the semiconductor business rose 15.9% to 33.6896 trillion won during the period.

Inventory assets accounted for 12.0% of total assets as of the end of the first half, up from the end of last year (11.6%). The turnover rate of inventory assets (the index of inventory asset sales speed divided by the cost of sales divided by inventory assets) decreased from 4.1 times to 3.3 times during the period.

The same is true for SK Hynix. The company's inventory assets rose 4.8% from 15.6647 trillion won at the end of last year to 16.42 trillion won at the end of June this year. The proportion of inventory assets among total assets increased from 15.1% to 16.0%. Inventory turnover has also decreased from 2.4 to 1.8.

Samsung Electronics has reduced inventory assets in its non-conductor businesses. Inventory in the DX division, which is in charge of home appliance and mobile businesses, reached 19.18 trillion won as of the end of the first half of the year, down 5.0 percent from 20.19 trillion won in the first half of the previous year. The display (SDC) sector also saw its inventory assets fall 23.8% from 2.1661 trillion won to 1.6496 trillion won.

In terms of executive remuneration in the first half of the year, Jang Woo-seung, head of the DX Big Data Center (vice president), received a total of 2.814 billion won, ranking first in the total amount of in-house remuneration. Samsung Electronics explained that the payment was made based on the achievement of business goals. All vice president-level executives were listed in the top five in-house remuneration.

Han Jong-hee received a total of 1.186 billion won in the first half of the year. He received a salary of 744 million won, a bonus of 433 million won, and other earned income of 9 million won. President Kyung Joo-hyun, who leads the DS division, received a total of 954 million won in compensation, including 611 million won in salary and 330 million won in bonuses. Roh Tae-moon also received 905 million won in compensation on a similar scale.

Park Jung-ho, vice chairman of SK Hynix, received a total of 2.68 billion won in the first half of the year. The amount includes 1.15 billion won in salary and 1.54 billion won in bonuses. 25% of the biers received treasury stock (4091 shares) through the shareholder participation program. Kwak No-jung, president of SK Hynix, received a total of 1.32 billion won, including 550 million won in salary, 768 million won in bonuses and 4 million won in other earned income.
