[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] POSCO Holdings has established a corporation that is pushing for the production of low-carbon raw materials "Hot Briquetted Iron" in Port Hedland, West Australia.
HBI, which is essential for the production of eco-friendly steel, is a product that has been transformed into a coal briquette shape by transforming direct reduction iron (DRI·Direct Reduced Iron) returned by removing oxygen from iron ore into a compressed form at high temperatures of more than 650℃. The establishment of a corporation for HBI production is also interpreted as a preparatory work for the group's production of green steel.
According to the steel industry on the 17th, POSCO Holdings recently established 'Port Hedland Green Steel Pty Ltd'. "Port Headland" is the name of the region where the company is established, and "Pty Ltd’" after the mission means an unlisted company.
'Port Headland Green Steel' plays a role in finding ways to utilize clean hydrogen in the process of producing HBI.
