Samsung recruited semiconductor talent from Intel and Fairchild

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics recruited talented people from external semiconductor companies such as Intel and Fairchild in the first half of this year.
With the recruitment of new executives from Apple, the number of executives from Apple will increase to seven and that from Intel to six.
At the end of last year, Meta's software engineers were recruited, and the number of Meta executives increased to four.
According to industry sources, Samsung Electronics recruited Hong Seok-joon, vice president of engineering at US semiconductor company Fairchild in the second quarter of last year. Hong, who was born in 1970, is working as an executive in charge of DS.
Samsung Electronics also hired Dr. Kim Tae-kyung, who worked as an engineer at Intel, as managing director. Born in 1971, Kim works in the Flash TD (Technology Development) room of the Semiconductor Research Institute. Chae Dong-hyuk, who worked as a team leader at Semibrain, a fabless company, also joined Samsung Electronics as an executive in charge of memory flash development.
In addition, Samsung Electronics recruited Shim Seung-hwan, senior manager of development at Apple, as an executive in charge of the D2C center in the global marketing office. The D2C Center, which was established in the Global Marketing Office last year, is developing an online sales strategy for Samsung products.
Hwang Kyung-soon, who served as a professor at the University of Austin in Texas, headed the Air Science Research Center, which was newly established at SAIT (formerly Advanced Institute of Technology). The Air Science Research Center is an organization established by integrating the Carbon Capture Research Institute under the SAIT and the Fine Dust Research Institute.
Working as a research center director at SK Securities Kim Young-woo, who moved to Samsung Global Research at the end of last year, has also been working as an executive in charge of Samsung Electronics' DS division planning team since May.
As of the first half of this year, Apple, Intel, Qualcomm and Meta were the companies from which Samsung Electronics' external recruitment executives were working.
The number of executives from Apple increased to seven in the first half of this year with the joining of Shim Seung-hwan, a former Apple executive. Apple executives include Yang Se-young, vice president of the MX division, and Jung Jae-wook, vice president of Samsung Research's Global AI Center.
A total of six executives from Intel, including Lee Sang-hoon and Song Byung-moo, vice president of the company, are working. At the end of last year, Song Young-geun, a former Intel engineer, joined the AVP Manufacturing Technology Center as an executive in charge of global manufacturing and infrastructure.
There were five executives from Qualcomm and four from Meta (including Facebook). Kim Hyun-deok, a software engineer at Meta, joined Samsung Electronics as an executive in charge of the innovation center at the end of last year.
