[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] POSCO's labor and management broke down negotiations on wage collective bargaining, raising the possibility of its first strike since its establishment.

The POSCO Labor Union of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions said on the 28th, "The 20th wage collective bargaining meeting held on the 23rd failed to reach an agreement and declared a breakdown in negotiations." POSCO's labor union is the representative bargaining union among multiple unions in POSCO.

The union pointed out that the company presented only five cases without raising the basic salary in 23 wage demands. It was also cited as one of the reasons for the breakdown of negotiations that mainly caused conflicts between generations.

POSCO's labor union plans to vote for and against the dispute after applying for mediation of the National Labor Relations Commission.
