[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Samsung Electro-Mechanics is going to expand its Multi-Layer Ceramic Condenser (MLCC) production base for automotive electronics to the Philippines. Following Busan and Tianjin, China, the Philippine plant will mass-produce MLCCs for battlefields.
According to the industry on the 13th, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is planning to produce MLCCs for battlefields at its Laguna plant in the Philippines. The Philippine plant mainly produces general-purpose MLCCs for information technology (IT) products such as smartphones and laptops, which it plans to mass-produce MLCCs for battlefields.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to strengthen its investment in Busan and Tianjin, China, to boost its competitiveness in MLCC for battlefields.
As the size of the Tianjin plant is three times larger than that of the Busan plant, it will increase investment to produce a variety of MLCC lineups for battlefields. MLCC is divided into 1005, 1608, 3225, etc. depending on the size. If the width is 3.2mm (mm) and the length is 2.5mm, it is 3225.
