[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] POSCO enters the blue ammonia production business in the United States.

POSCO Holdings announced on the 14th that it has signed a joint development agreement (JDA) with CF Industries, the world's largest ammonia production company, at the 'H2 MEET 2023' site in KINTEX, Ilsan.

CF Industries has large-scale ammonia production plants in the United States and Canada. Annual ammonia production amounts to nine million tons.

Under the agreement, the two companies will review detailed plans and budgets for the blue ammonia production project.

The Louisiana Blue Ammonia project is characterized by a 90% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions compared to existing production methods. It is also expected to receive subsidies under the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
