[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] LG Energy Solutions announced on the 19th that it will complete the issuance of a global green bond worth $ 1 billion (1.3214 trillion won) and speed up investment in battery facilities.
The green bond issued this time has a three-year maturity of $ 400 million and a five-year maturity of $ 600 million. Greenbonds are bonds limited to eco-friendly investments such as renewable energy, electric vehicles, and high-efficiency energy. The issuance rate was set at +100bp (1bp=0.01%p) and +130bp, respectively, compared to the U.S. three-year and five-year government bond rates. This is 40bp lower than the initial offer rate.
Investors from 114 institutions participated in the issuance of global bonds in three years and 186 institutions in five years, with orders five times the total amount of public offerings.
In its first quarter conference call, LG Energy Solution announced that it invested 6.3 trillion won in global battery production-related facility investment (CAPEX) last year and will expand its investment by more than 50% this year.
