[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The Korea Communications Commission (KCC) announced on the 25th that it will launch a fact-finding investigation into the alleged manipulation of news algorithms against Naver.
"The inspection judged that Naver may violate the Telecommunications Business Act, such as unfair discrimination against certain users, unfair imposition of unreasonable conditions or restrictions," the Korea Communications Commission said. "If Naver is found to have artificially intervened in the results of the news service search and discriminatoryly provided the service, we will take measures such as fines (one-hundredth of related sales) and criminal charges."
"During the inspection, Naver was warned for delaying or not submitting the investigation data," the Korea Communications Commission said. "If such acts continue during the investigation, we will take legal measures such as forcing implementation."
