[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] GS Engineering & Construction has been tallied as the construction company with the largest number of detailed defects in apartments over the past five years.

Among the top 10 construction capacity evaluations, DL E&C (6th), Daewoo Engineering & Construction (7th), Dongyeon Construction (8th), Doosan Engineering & Construction (9th), and Lotte Engineering & Construction (10th) were listed.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 25th unveiled the status of the defect application and handling of the defect review dispute mediation committee and the status of defects by each construction company to ensure the public's right to know about housing defects.

The review committee was established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to resolve disputes over defects in apartment houses on behalf of the court.

According to the application and processing status of defects by the Korea Construction Standards Commission and the status of defects by construction companies, the Construction Standards Commission handled an average of 4,000 dispute cases related to defects per year from 2019 to August this year. About 90% of them were subject to defect screening to determine whether they were defective or not.

Among the cases filed with the Defect Review Dispute Mediation Committee over the past four years and eight months, GS Engineering & Construction was the construction company with the largest number of cases judged as "defects." 3,062 cases were received, of which 1,612 cases (52.6%) were found to be defective.

It was followed by 533 cases of Kyeryong construction (55.8% defect judgment rate), 503 cases of Daebang Construction (52.0%), 402 cases of SM Merchant Marine (55.4%), and 361 cases of Daemyung General Construction (25.2%).

Large construction companies in the top 10 in construction capacity evaluation were among the 6th to 10th construction companies to determine defects. △DL E&C (323 cases, 53.5%) △ Daewoo Engineering & Construction (308 cases, 24.2%) △ Dongyeon Construction (251 cases, 56.0%) △ Doosan Engineering & Construction (213 cases, 15.8%) △ Lotte Engineering & Construction (202 cases, 25.3%).

GS Engineering & Construction (93 cases) was also found to have received the most detailed defects for six months from March to August this year.

Until now, the Korea Communications Standards Commission has only disclosed the status of the committee's meetings every year and the status of cases received on its website.
