Kakao completes its first data center

[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Kakao completes the construction of its first data center 'Kakao Data Center Ansan' and prepares for full-scale operation.
Kakao announced today (26th) that the completion ceremony of the data center was held at the Kakao Data Center Ansan site located on the ERICA campus of Hanyang University.
At the completion ceremony, Kakao invited some 100 key local and community officials, including Lee Ki-jung, president of Hanyang University, Ansan Mayor Lee Min-geun and Lee Jin-bun, vice chairman of the Ansan City Council, as well as on-site engineers, executives and employees of local welfare facilities who participated in regional win-win activities, and representatives of students at Hanyang University's ERICA Campus.
Kakao Data Center Ansan, which opened its first shovel in 2021, is Kakao's first self-data center. It is a hyperscale (super-large data center capable of running more than 100,000 servers) with a total floor area of 47,378 square meters, and a total of 120,000 servers can be stored and the amount of data that can be stored is 6EB (exabytes). After operating system installation and stabilization test, we plan to start full-scale operation in the first quarter of next year.
