[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Exynos, Samsung Electronics' own mobile application processor (AP), will return in a year and nine months.
The AP is a semiconductor that serves as the brain of a smartphone, and Samsung Electronics has installed the entire second generation of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 instead of Exynos on its flagship smartphones since the Galaxy S22's game optimization service (GOS) controversy last year.
According to related industries on the 3rd, Samsung Electronics recently completed the tape-out process (preparation process for Tape-out· consignment production) for the new mobile AP 'Exynos 2400'. Tapeout is a term that means that after the chip design is completed, it has moved on to the full-fledged production stage. After the test production, various errors are corrected.
The new Exynos will be made in the 4-nanometer process of Samsung Foundry (semiconductor consignment production) by the end of this year. It is heard that whether to install the Galaxy S24 series will be finalized this month. The industry expects Samsung to use Exynos again early next year, starting with the Galaxy S24 series.
Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is scheduled to announce its tentative performance in the third quarter on the 11th.
