SKT reaches 15 million 5G subscribers in August

[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] SK Telecom was the first mobile carrier to settle on the 15 million subscribers of 5G mobile communication.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT's 'August Wireless Communication Service Statistics' on the 9th, SK Telecom's 5G subscribers recorded 15 million 9,720 (5G market share 47.6%).
The number of KT 5G subscribers was followed by 9,433,889 (29.9%), LG Uplus 6,755,872 (21.4%), and thrifty phones 308,578 (1%).
In August, the total number of subscription lines for each mobile carrier was △ SK Telecom 31,167,048 (39%), △KT 17,099,384 (21.4%), △LG Uplus 16,671,966 (20.9%), △ bargain phones 14,943,291 (18.7%). The gap between KT and LG Uplus was 427,418, down only 1,073 from 428,491 the previous month, and maintained a 0.5 percentage point gap.
Competition in the mobile telecommunication market is expected to intensify in the fourth quarter. Following SK Telecom's achievement of 15 million 5G subscribers, KT's efforts to achieve 10 million 5G subscribers and LG Uplus' efforts to achieve 7 million will be a competitive pressure.
