[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hanwha Solution will increase its capacity to produce solar modules in the U.S. five times by the first half of next year.
Hanwha Solution announced on the 17th that it will expand its module production capacity in the United States, which was 1.7GW in the first half of this year, to 8.4GW in the first half of next year. This is the largest in North America with the production capacity of solar companies that make silicon battery-based modules, and is the amount of power that 1.3 million US households can use for one year.
To that end, Hanwha Solution has expanded its Dalton 2 plant (3.4GW) following the Dalton 1 plant (1.7GW) in Georgia, USA, and started mass production in July. It was originally planned to start test production in September, but moved it forward by about two months.
As the production capacity of the Cartersville plant currently under construction is 3.3GW, module production capacity in the U.S. will increase to 8.4GW when module production in Cartersville begins in April next year. If it is operated sequentially to Cartersville's Ingot, Wafer and Cell plants, the one-pixel solution will be the first in North America to complete the core value chain of solar energy by the end of next year.
In the first quarter of this year, Hanwha Solution ranked first in the US housing and commercial module markets for 19 consecutive quarters and 14 consecutive quarters, respectively. Starting this year, the company plans to expand its market share in the utility (power generation) market.
