[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The size of related markets has grown about 200 times since the introduction of loan relay services by three fintech companies, Naver Pay, Kakao Pay and Toss.
According to data on 'loan comparison service handling and average commission rate' on the 19th, relayed loans amounted to only 120.7 billion won in 2019, the first year when the service was introduced, but recorded 9.7619 trillion won this year. If the current trend is maintained, it is expected to exceed 20 trillion won this year.
Commission income from loan relays has also increased significantly. It was only 1.3 billion won in the first year, but it grew to 85 billion won in the first half of this year. Looking at the growth trend, commission income of KRW 170 billion is expected this year.
According to the FSS, according to the decree, loan brokers can receive up to 3% of fees, and offline brokerage service companies usually receive up to 2.5% of fees. On the other hand, Naver, Kakao, and Toss applied a commission of 0.3% to non-monetary institutions and 1.3% to non-monetary institutions, and received an average commission of 0.98%, which is less than half of offline companies.
