[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Doosan Enerbility was selected as the design service company for the dry storage project for spent nuclear fuel (high-level radioactive waste) promoted by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co.
According to the Asian economy on the 23rd, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. selected Doosan Enerbility as the preferred bidder in a bid for a "comprehensive design service for nuclear fuel dry storage system after using a light-water reactor" held at its headquarters in Gyeongju later in the day. Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. and Doosan Enerbility will finalize their contracts as early as this month after detailed coordination.
Doosan Enerbility and French state-owned company Orano competed until the end for this project. In a recent technical evaluation conducted by KHNP, both companies were qualified. As a result, the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. selected the preferred bidder as the lowest bidding method on the day.
Doosan Enerbility is known to have passed the technology evaluation in recognition of its technology secured in the dry storage project jointly conducted with NAC, a U.S. nuclear power plant designer.
