[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Six labor union branches of four Hyundai Motor Group parts affiliates will go on a joint strike for the first time in history.

According to the auto industry on the 25th, six union branches of Hyundai Motor Group Hyundai Transys, Hyundai Rotem, Hyundai Mseat, and Hyundai B&G Steel issued a statement saying that they decided to go on a joint strike for four hours of the day (two hours each day and night) and eight hours on the 26th of this month (four hours each day and night).

"Hyundai Motor Group has long been discriminating against wages and welfare systems by ranking affiliates," they said in a statement. "In 2022 and 2023, it added affiliates' operating profits to ranked wages and unilaterally decided on incentives and made differential payments."

"The operating profit of affiliates is controlled by the decision of Hyundai Motor Group's headquarters, so it cannot be a standard for paying incentives," he said. "The six affiliates will conduct the first joint strike by Hyundai Motor Group to eliminate such discrimination."

Their requirement is to pay the same level of incentives and special incentives as Hyundai Motor and Kia in order to solve the ranking of group companies. Hyundai Motors and Kia Motors decided to raise their basic salary by 111,000 won through this year's wage and collective agreement. In addition, Hyundai Motor will pay 400% + 10.5 million won in incentives, 250,000 won in gift certificates and 15 shares, while Kia will pay 400% + 10.5 million won in incentives, 250,000 won in gift certificates and 34 shares.

On the other hand, the management is in a position that it is difficult to accept the union's demands, so the conflict is expected to be prolonged.
